Fundraising Efforts

This summer 11 committed volunteers are actively fundraising & organising themselves for this years Chifundo Summer School. The school will run from the 24th of July until the 17th of August.

A number of fundraisers have been held already including cake sales, coffee mornings, table quizzes, raffles & participation in the women’s mini marathon.

First up is Leigh Callinan, a secondary school teacher who ran a successful fundraiser in aid of the Chifundo Foundation in his school St.Michaels Holy Faith, Finglas. Thank you to everyone who supported for your generosity. In particular, thanks to Lisa & her staff at the Rolling Donut for sponsoring the donuts for the staff coffee morning. Leigh followed this up with a very successful table quiz in the Back Page in Phibsboro which was supported equally as generously by his fellow staff members.

Claire Staunton, a paramedic in Roscommon Hospital. From Ballinasloe Claire organised massive support to sponsor her run in the Dublin Women’s Mini Marathon. taking time out from her Golf.

Claire is now arranging a special table quiz in her own Golf Club in Ballinasloe on the 14th of July & we wish her all the best in her efforts.

Another successful fundraiser was held by Ann Gallagher, one of the national school teachers who is joining us as a volunteer this summer. Ann held a cake sale in Ballinteer Educate Together National School where she is a resource teacher. A huge word of thanks to all the parents & staff for their generosity & for making so many great cakes. A special word of thanks to Deirbhle who made the wonderful Chifundo flag in the background! No doubt it will be flying high in Zomba later this summer.

Lisa Brett is next up with a big school raffle planned for this Friday the 16th of June. Lisa is a primary school teacher in Presentation primary, Warrenmount. Good Luck Lisa!!

Fundraising will take on an international element in the coming weeks with Pete Cogavin & Freddy Cardozo who teach in Cardinal Vaughan Secondary School in London. Both talented musicians, they plan to hold musical events soon.

Elaine Cogavin has a cake sale which always proves very popular in her parish of Guardian Angels, Newtown Park Avenue on Sunday the 25th of June. It is quickly becoming an annual event. The local support has been phenomenal since the Chifundo Project commenced more than 10 years ago!
